A scarce and historically significant run of The Anglo-Israelite, comprising Volumes III, IV and V, published in Brisbane between 1882 and 1885. Printed by G. & J. Black for Edward St. Brisbane, these volumes document the development of the Anglo-Israel movement in colonial Australia and are an important resource for researchers of religious history, genealogy and nineteenth-century Australian publishing.
The set includes:
Volume III: March 1882 – February 1883 (240 pages plus index)
Volume IV: March 1883 – February 1884 (244 pages)
Volume V: March 1884 – February 1885 (240 pages)
The books have been professionally rebound in quality cloth with new endpapers, preserving the original printed contents while ensuring durability for future generations. A single page contains a previous owner's pencilled note, otherwise the volumes remain in very good to excellent condition.
Notably, this set is unlisted in Trove, making it an exceptionally uncommon survival of an early Australian religious periodical.
An outstanding acquisition for collectors of Australiana, rare religious works, nineteenth-century periodicals and Anglo-Israel movement publications.
